welcome to the new **tux.re forum**
This is our first official **Hello World** post and a short update about our current direction and the services we are building for the community.
---
About the Recent Incident
Recently, our **Virtualmin-based hosting environment** was targeted by an attack.
To put this into perspective:
- The incident was limited to the Virtualmin stack
- It was not a full infrastructure compromise
- Core infrastructure services remained intact
- The situation was contained quickly
When operating open internet infrastructure, such probing attempts are an expected risk.
While disruptive, the incident confirmed something important for us:
**reducing complexity and minimizing attack surfaces is the right direction.**

New Direction: Focus on Independent Infrastructure Services
Instead of maintaining a large shared-hosting environment, we are focusing on **smaller, specialized services** that are easier to secure and maintain.
Our main projects now focus on:
- DNS infrastructure
- Independent email hosting
- Community cloud services
---
https://tux.wf
One of the most interesting services is **tux.wf**, which allows users to create their own **free subdomains**.
For example:
- yourname.tux.wf
- project.tux.wf
- lab.tux.wf
Features:
- Free subdomains
- Simple domain management
- Useful for projects, testing, or services
- Clean DNS infrastructure

✉ tuxmail.org – A Unique PostfixAdmin Mail Platform
https://tuxmail.org
Another project we are very excited about is **tuxmail.org**.
This service is based on:
- Postfix
- Dovecot
- PostfixAdmin
You can manage your own email domain through a PostfixAdmin interface.
This means you can:
- Use your own domain for email
- Create and manage mailboxes yourself
- Use standard IMAP / SMTP clients (Thunderbird, etc.)
- Stay independent from big mail providers
With **PostfixAdmin**, you can actually **run your own domain's mailboxes** in a simple interface.
For many users this is a **rare and powerful feature**, and that is why we consider this a **unique offering for the community.**

☁ tuxcloud.org – Nextcloud for the Community
https://tuxcloud.org
In addition to DNS and mail services, we are building **tuxcloud.org**.
This platform provides **Nextcloud hosting for the community**, including:
- File storage
- Secure file sharing
- Calendar & contacts
- Collaboration tools
- Privacy
- Transparency
- Community-oriented infrastructure
Why We Built These Services
Many modern platforms are moving toward **closed ecosystems and subscriptions**.
We believe there is still value in **open infrastructure tools** that allow people to control their own services.
That is why we focus on projects like:
- Free subdomains (tux.wf)
- Independent email domains (tuxmail.org)
- Community cloud services (tuxcloud.org)

We Would Love Your Feedback
We are curious about one thing:
Would it be interesting for you to:
- manage your own email domain
- create your own subdomain
- use community-hosted cloud services
