Facebook / Meta Phishing: Fake Copyright Warnings and Disabled Page Scams

Post by NetGuru »

What is happening?

There is a recurring phishing wave targeting Facebook users, page owners, creators and Meta Business accounts. The attackers pretend to be Meta, Facebook Support or a copyright enforcement team. Their goal is simple: scare the victim into clicking a fake appeal link and entering login data.

Security researchers describe these campaigns as fake account suspension, policy violation or copyright infringement messages. Trellix lists “account suspension/violation” and “unauthorized login alert” as common Facebook phishing themes. Check Point also reported a Facebook copyright infringement phishing campaign where victims were sent to fake Facebook support pages designed to steal credentials.

Typical fake messages

These messages often look like this:
Your page has been reported for copyright violation.
Your account will be disabled within 24 hours.
We detected a violation of Meta Community Standards.
Submit an appeal now to prevent permanent deletion.
