Google Chrome 148 Security Update – 127 Fixes Released

Post by MegaTux »

Google has released a new security update for Chrome 147.

This update includes 127 fixes and closes many security-related issues in the browser. Because Chrome is one of the most exposed applications on any desktop system, this update should be installed as soon as possible.

Why is this important?

Modern browsers process JavaScript, WebAssembly, media files, PDFs, fonts, extensions, and many other web technologies. A single malicious website can sometimes be enough to attack a vulnerable browser.

The fixed issues may affect components such as:
  • V8 JavaScript engine
  • Blink rendering engine
  • GPU handling
  • Media processing
  • Extensions
  • PDF viewer
  • WebRTC and networking components
Possible security risks include:
  • Browser crashes
  • Memory corruption
  • Information leaks
  • Use-after-free bugs
  • Heap buffer overflows
  • Remote code execution scenarios
Update recommendation

All Chrome users should update and restart the browser.
